Planned by the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce as its major fundraiser, the festival is a community event and there is never a charge for entrance.Nearly 200 vendors sell their arts, crafts and foods to a crowd of 30,000-plus over the 3-day event. Events include a youth pet and talent show, a parade, the famous bed race, a baking and canning contest and art in the park. There is even free live music all weekend long on two stages!  There is a rodeo on Saturday night and a ranch rodeo sponsored by the Mesa County Cattlemen on Sunday. The festival is the winner of the prestigious Best of the West award from the Daily Sentinel in 2001, 2002, 2006 and 2008.
