FAST FACTS

 

At 7800 feet in elevation our summer days are in the 70s & 80s. Evenings are generally in the 50s.

Ouray was incorporated in 1876. Many of its buildings were built between 1880 & 1900.

Highway 550 between Ouray & Silverton, named The Million Dollar Highway (part of the San Juan Skyway) is one of the most scenic & spectacular drives in North America.

Ouray boasts of having over 40+ amazing hiking and biking trails, with 17 that start right in town.

Jeeping & Off Roading
Ouray has earned the muchdeserved
reputation as the "Jeep® Capital of the World". Traverse a variety of terrain from extreme high mountain passes to areas of spectacular wildflowers and waterfalls. Four-wheeling enthusiasts travel here through out the summer and fall for the breathtaking scenery steeped in history.

Water Sports
Spring run-off offers rafters a chance to discover picturesque canyons, lush riparian banks, abundant wildlife and challenging class II-IV rapids. Enjoy great fishing in some of the best kept secret spots here in the Ouray Area.
